The 9th meeting of the Russian-Turkish subgroup on Safety and protection of the rights of tourists with the participation of deputy ministers of responsible departments took place in Antalya. The Russian delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, Rospotrebnadzor, Rosaviation and the tourism sector.

Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia Vladimir Ilyichev noted the active growth in the number of tourist trips from Turkey to Russia. In 2023, Turkish travelers made 82 thousand trips, which is 67% more than in 2022 and is comparable to the pre-pandemic 2019. Turkish citizens took the fourth place among non-CIS countries.
“Trips from Russia’s visits to Turkey are massive, so the key issue of our meeting was the safety of Russian citizens abroad,” he said Vladimir Ilyichev. — The safety of Russian tourists’ stay in Turkey directly affects the number of trips. The Turkish side, in turn, informed the Russian colleagues about the implementation of measures to improve the quality control of services in Turkish hotels on food, sightseeing services and infrastructure use.
Representatives of the Turkish delegation expressed their willingness to help in solving difficult life situations in which Russian tourists may find themselves. In order to reduce the number of cash thefts, they offered Russian tourists to actively use the cashless payment service, which launched a Turkish business in the country last year.
Special attention to the Deputy Minister Vladimir Ilyichev paid attention to ensuring transport accessibility, including on connecting flights, as well as the stability of financial settlements of the tourism business.
