More and more programmers, designers and representatives of other professions who can afford to work remotely are going to Turkey, where today they are trying to create all conditions for remote workers.

The British, Germans, French, Arabs and, of course, Russians literally occupied Turkish coworking spaces – office spaces where people from different fields and organizations can rent a workplace. Turks themselves also increasingly prefer this format. It would seem that you could just as well take a cup of tea for free and sit with a laptop in some cafe. But instead of a stable Internet connection and a printer at hand, you can only get annoying questions from the waiter: “Can you order something else?”. In addition to comfortable conditions, another important advantage of coworking is a special atmosphere and new acquaintances with the same professionals from different fields. Psychologists and lawyers rent separate offices to work with clients. Architects, financiers, editors, and IT specialists prefer an open space. It costs from 400 liras per day to rent a workplace. The exchange rate is constantly jumping, but it’s about a thousand rubles.

“Freelancers often get upset that they don’t have corporate parties. Many people come to us at least to fill this gap,” jokes Batu Bayraktash, an employee of the sales department of the coworking network in Istanbul. “We regularly hold meetings, workshops, and parties where people can get to know each other and make useful contacts.”

The meeting place for artists from all over the world is the recently renovated Ataturk Cultural Center. The three-tiered library with books and magazines about fashion, music, history, and architecture is especially impressive. The cultural center also has a huge modern concert hall, exhibition spaces and, of course, a restaurant with panoramic views. The goal of the Turkish authorities is still the same – to lure the best representatives of the cultural sphere and attract tourists.

Coworking spaces, modern libraries, interactive museums and cultural centers are growing like mushrooms not only in Istanbul, but also throughout Turkey. Earlier, AN was told that a new art space was opened in Bodrum, which has become a center of attraction for art lovers.

Izmir, the third most populous city in Turkey, is becoming increasingly popular among both locals and tourists and immigrants. It attracts with the presence of an airport, universities and colleges, neat houses, rich cultural life and Mediterranean cuisine. The second largest port is also located here. You can’t swim in the city itself – the water is too dirty, but there are many pleasant beaches within an hour’s drive.

Travelers especially appreciate that from Izmir you can easily get to the ancient city of Ephesus. The theater where Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey were staged, the columns striking in their size, the ancient library – walking along Ephesus, you can imagine yourself an ancient thinker.

Another paradise is Urla. If earlier tourists came here for one or two days, today Urla has become a full-fledged place to relax. Trendy restaurants, wineries, olive groves give every right to call this city a gastronomic resort. The bet here is on a combination of traditional and modern Turkish cuisine. Artichoke with olive oil, seafood, sea bass. The dishes on the Aegean coast are light and refined.

As the guide Mustafa Yalcin Kaya notes, recently more and more residents of large cities in Turkey have been leaving for such cozy villages. They open shops with original decorations or, for example, restaurants, which then even receive Michelin stars. Many work remotely – that’s where coworking spaces scattered across the country come in handy.
