The British Foreign Ministry urged tourists not to relax too much, issuing a warning for tourists about “people you meet during the day.” Casual acquaintances from the locals on vacation may turn out to be intruders — such a warning about trips to Turkey was issued due to the increased frequency of attacks in coastal tourist areas, British media write.
“In 2023, 42 cases of sexual violence, including rape, were reported to the staff of the British Consulate in Turkey. Most of the cases occurred during the summer holidays in coastal tourist areas. The crimes were committed at night by persons whom the victim met during the day, including employees of hotels and spas,” they told tourists, warning them about casual acquaintances.
Also, we recall that, according to the warnings of the British Foreign Ministry, minors visiting toilets alone are also at risk. Tourists who take unknown alcohol from friends, as well as trying to drive up in unfamiliar passing cars, are also at risk. Tourists are advised to “find a registered taxi and remember the registration number before boarding.”
They were also reminded of the danger zones in Turkey. Thus, tourists are advised to refrain from any trips within 10 km from the border with Syria.
Obviously, such warnings are relevant for any tourists, including Russian ones. As well as the warnings issued by the British Foreign Ministry on France (read here).
