Against the background of warm weather this September, there is an increased demand for booking suburban accommodation facilities: specialists of the online booking service for hotels and apartments Ostrovok record a twofold increase in demand for cottages, houses, glamping and camping sites in the regions of Central Russia compared to last year, in the Volga region – by one and a half times, in the North–West of the country – by a third.
In particular, experts see an increase in demand for country holidays in the Kaluga and Vladimir regions – three times, in the Moscow and Yaroslavl regions – twice, in the Leningrad Region – by 69%, in the Voronezh Region – by 48%, in the Ivanovo region – by 44%, in the Tver region – by 40%.
Russians are particularly interested in glamping – the number of bookings at such facilities in September more than doubled the national average. There is an increase of 25% year–on-year in cottages and houses, and 12% in campsites.
Anita Gusich, head of the Ostrovok press service, commented: “We associate the growing demand for booking suburban real estate with the abnormally warm weather for September – Russians are trying to prolong the feeling of summer, enjoy outdoor recreation, near reservoirs.”
The average cost of a booked night in cottages, houses, glamping and camping sites throughout Russia this September is 5,900 rubles. On average, tourists book such facilities for three nights.
Most often, tourists go on vacation outside the city together – more than half of all bookings (55%) are made for two adults without children. Families with children account for 19% of bookings, tourist companies – 16%, solo travelers – 10%.
