Oman Air has announced an “incredible sale” of tickets for the winter season. You need to purchase transportation by September 5, and you can fly until March 31 next year. The list includes Emirates, Thailand, and Maldives, which are popular with Russian tourists. For example, you can go to Dubai for 21.4 thousand rubles, to Bangkok for 35.4 thousand rubles, and a flight to Male will cost 31.2 thousand rubles, the announcement says. Although it does not say where the departures are from, it is not difficult to guess that we are talking about Moscow.
Editorial Office TourDоm.ru I decided to compare the announced prices with what can be found on the carrier’s website, as well as see how much the flight will cost competitors – the flagship airlines of the UAE and Russia. We looked at what options are offered in the last days of October and early November, that is, after October 29, when Oman Air’s direct flights from Russia to Muscat resume.
So, a ticket to Dubai from Sheremetyevo on November 2 can be purchased for 24.7 thousand rubles (including luggage weighing up to 30 kg) – the price is 3 thousand rubles higher than that stated in the brochure. But on November 5, the flight is cheaper – 23.2 thousand rubles. It will take 9 hours and 50 minutes to get there – with a connection in Muscat. Emirates and Aeroflot offer alternatives, but they are more expensive. In the first case, a ticket to Dubai will cost 46.5 thousand rubles, in the second – 57.2 thousand rubles. But these are direct flights – the journey will take 5 hours and 40 minutes. Moreover, departures are several times a day.
You can fly to the Maldives on an Oman Air flight on October 31 for 33.9 thousand rubles (also slightly more expensive than in the sale announcement), the journey with a transfer in the capital of Oman will take 13 hours and 10 minutes. Aeroflot has the only direct flight from Russia to Male, but transportation on the same day, October 31, will cost 2 times more – 78.2 thousand rubles. The flight will last a little more than 9 hours.
As for flights to Bangkok, on November 2, the Omani airline can find an option for 35.3 thousand rubles. However, the docking is quite inconvenient – the journey will last 27 and a half hours. You can get there 2 times faster – by another flight, although the price in this case will be far from “sale” – 51.3 thousand rubles. However, it is still cheaper than Aeroflot, which offers to go to the capital of Thailand on the same day for 67.5 thousand rubles. The main advantage of the Russian airline is speed. It is 9 o’clock to fly from Sheremetyevo to Bangkok: departure at seven in the evening, in the morning of the next day – already in place.
In early August, we wrote about the ticket sale, which was announced by Aeroflot for the end of summer and the first decade of September. It turned out that it is profitable to fly only to Colombo and Ho Chi Minh City. But the price tags for Turkey were comparable to those offered by competitors.
