By the end of 2023, Malaysia accepted 110,000 rubles from Russia. In 2024, the country expects to receive more than 140 thousand travelers from the Russian Federation. This was stated by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to the Russian Federation, Dato Cheong Lung Lai.
“In 2023, there was a significant increase in the number of Russian tourists in Malaysia — the country received 110 thousand visitors from the Russian Federation, which is 37% more compared to the pre-tandem figures. And these figures significantly exceed the goals that we set for ourselves, which we are very happy about,” he said at a press conference in Moscow, Interfax reports
The Ambassador added that one of the reasons for the increase in tourist flow was the visa-free entry regime for holders of Russian passports for up to 30 days.
“In addition, Malaysia has a rich culture influenced by the traditions of different countries, transport accessibility and offers good value for money,” he said.
