A passenger ship ran aground on Ladoga

In the Leningrad region, the passenger ship K. A. Timiryazev, heading from Valaam to St. Petersburg, ran aground on Lake Ladoga.

According to the North-Western Transport Prosecutor’s Office, this morning the ship veered off course near Konevets Island and ran aground. There are 170 passengers and 47 crew members on board.

There are no casualties. Oil spill and water leakage of the hull are also not allowed. The owner takes measures to remove the ship from the shoal. The reasons for the incident are being investigated.
