The Thai authorities have decided to establish a 60-day visa-free regime for citizens of 93 countries, including Russians, on a permanent basis, the TASS news agency reports. This regime applies to those who enter the country solely for tourist purposes and does not apply to “digital nomads” and those who want to study in Thailand – there are special types of visas for them. According to the Thai Prime Minister, this will attract more foreign travelers to the state and help the local economy.
Thai lawmakers also clarified that the 60-day visa-free regime does not apply to those who come to study at any courses, be it Thai boxing or cooking, who want to be treated or participate in various festivals.
Earlier, Russian travelers could stay in Thailand without visas for only 30 days, but then local authorities temporarily increased this limit: from November 2023 to May 2024, our citizens were allowed to spend 90 days in the Country of Smiles without a visa, from May 1 this period was reduced to 60 days and now they have decided to legislate exactly 60 days.
