The Maldivian authorities have changed the rules for leaving the country. Travelers will no longer be able to fill out the previously mandatory Traveller Declaration form, according to the industry publication Vestnik ATOR. According to the new regulations, tourists will need to send a special questionnaire only before arriving on the islands.
This questionnaire is available on the official portal of the Maldives Migration Service. When filling it out, guests of the islands are asked to provide their passport details and upload a photo.
Recall that the appearance of this questionnaire was related to sanitary measures during the coronavirus pandemic. At first it was called the Traveller Health Declaration, and in it travelers had to report their health data. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has officially ended, the Maldives has decided to continue collecting data on travelers electronically.
