Karymsky volcano in Kamchatka spewed ash to a height of 10 km

In Kamchatka, the Karymsky volcano spewed an ash column 10 km high above sea level. This was reported at the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

An ash release was recorded on the Karymsky volcano on August 30 at 11:00 Moscow time. The ash plume stretches 5 km northwest of the volcano.

The activity of the volcano poses a danger to air traffic: a red color code of danger for aviation has been established.

The volcano is located in the central part of the Eastern volcanic zone of Kamchatka, 115 km from the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
