The Turkish newspaper Hürriyet, citing its own sources, reported that Russian businessman Roman Abramovich purchased a huge mansion in Istanbul, which was previously owned by Adnan Oktar, a sect leader sentenced to 8,658 years in prison.
According to the newspaper, the estate is located on the shore of the Bosphorus in the Uksudar area. It allegedly cost the billionaire $ 18 million. In addition, the roads leading to the mansion have been repaired, and high walls are already being built around it. There is also information that a permit has been obtained for the construction of a helipad.
What did Abramovich say?
RBC contacted a representative of the businessman’s press office, where, of course, the information from the newspaper Hürriyet was denied.
Recall that in December 2022, the British edition of The Mirror and the Turkish Daily Sabah reported that the multi-billionaire wanted to live in Istanbul’s Bebek district. Other information came in November from Ulvi Ozkan, president of the real estate brokers club in Istanbul, who said that Abramovich rented a mansion near the Bosphorus for $50,000.

Adnan Oktar, a sect leader who preaches on his own TV channel, lived in the estate for many years. Having come under suspicion of crime, the special forces stormed Adnan’s home, and he escaped through a secret passage. He was later caught in Istanbul.
Last fall, he was found guilty of sexual assault and abuse of minors and jailed for 8,658 years. The convict himself calls the incident “a game of the British deep state.”
