Most Duty Free shops in Terminal 2 of the airport in the Emirati city of Dubai have started accepting cash rubles, the TASS news agency reports. The remaining outlets of this air hub also plan to start working with the Russian currency in the near future – “after the settlement of technical issues.” However, not all travelers will want to pay in duty-free shops with domestic money, as boutiques offer a very poor rate. Also, Dubai Duty Free stores accept cards issued by Russian banks of the Chinese Union Pay payment system, the conversion rate for which is much more profitable, but still overestimated compared to the official exchange rate of the Central Bank.
So, for 1 Emirati dirhams, when paying in cash, you will have to pay about 33 rubles, whereas when paying with a plastic card of the specified payment system – about 26 rubles.
