The Chinese airline China Southern Airlines is going to start operating direct scheduled flights between Urumqi and Yerevan. The first flight between the city in China and the capital of Armenia is scheduled to take place on September 3, 2024. Thanks to these flights, Russian tourists will have a new route to the city located on the northern slopes of the Tianshan Mountains – through Yerevan.
Flights will be operated 2 times a week – on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The airliner will depart from Urumqi at 16:00 local time and land at Yerevan Airport at 17:35. The plane will depart from the capital of Armenia at 21:50 and return to the Chinese airport at 07:00 in the morning of the following day. The travel time is about 5 hours and 30 minutes.
Tickets for these flights are sold on the airline’s official website, which requires a plastic card issued by a foreign bank to pay for them, and at agents where you can find an opportunity to pay for tickets with a Russian bank’s “plastic”. The cost of a one-way flight with standard baggage at the most budget fare is now approximately 42,000 rubles.
