Turkey topped the list of the most popular tourist destinations for German vacationers. Such results of its analysis were published by the leading German newspaper Die Welt. While the German tourist flow to Turkey is gaining momentum, the number of Russian tourists, on the contrary, continues to fall rapidly (details here).
Statistics foreshadowing the record performance of the German market in the Turkish tourism sector this year indicate a return to pre-pandemic levels. There is very little time left before the start of the main holiday season, and tourists and representatives of the tourism sector are actively preparing for the upcoming flow of vacationers. Thus, the president of the German Travel Association, Norbert Fibig, was pleased about the return of tourism revenues to the pre-pandemic level. He noted that sales of summer tours are already 11% higher than in 2019 and as much as 30% higher than last year.
At the same time, Turkey took the leading positions in the ranking compiled by the publication, surpassing even such traditionally popular destinations for Europeans as Spain, Greece, Egypt and Portugal. Fibig stressed that Turkey attracts tourists with high quality services and affordable prices, which is especially important in the current economic situation. “Turkey as a tourist destination has long represented good quality and low prices. And it seems that customers are increasingly giving preference to price when it comes to their own wallet,” he noted. A similar trend was confirmed by the British media, including The Telegraph, which also named Turkey the most popular tourist destination this year.
