Where do tourists go for the March holidays?

Most Russians will travel around the country – the cities of the Russian Federation account for 79.7% of air bookings and 97.38% of railway trips. This is reported by experts of the travel service tutu, who analyzed the most popular routes for the upcoming March holidays.

Among the most popular destinations are Moscow with a passenger share of 18.8%, St. Petersburg – 8.4%, Sochi – 6.2%, Kaliningrad – 3%, Mineralnye Vody – 2.9%. The top 10 popular cities also include Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Samara and Tyumen.

Russians will fly abroad to Uzbekistan (the share of purchased tickets is 18.55%), Azerbaijan (13.6%) and Armenia (10.92%). Turkey (7.8%) and the UAE (4.37%) are popular among non-CIS countries.

The top “women’s” airline destinations for the holidays are also headed by Moscow and St. Petersburg – they account for 24.5% and 13% of flight bookings, respectively. Sochi, Kaliningrad, Mineralnye Vody, Kazan, Makhachkala, Murmansk are among the popular cities among female passengers. And the most popular flights abroad are to Istanbul (the share of passengers is 14.2%), Yerevan (10.4%), Dubai and Minsk (7.5% each), as well as to Tashkent (5.7%).

Tutu analysts note that the number of travelers who use the booking service has increased — it allows you to fix the price of an air ticket. They also buy tickets with the possibility of a 100% refund if the trip suddenly has to be rescheduled.

On trains during the March holidays, most trips are planned to two capitals, Krasnodar, Rostov-on-Don and Yekaterinburg. The share of passengers to Moscow is 24.7%, to St. Petersburg – 9.8%, to Krasnodar – 3.9%, to Rostov-on-Don – 2.9%, to Yekaterinburg – 1.9%. Adler, Simferopol, Sochi, Voronezh and Nizhny Novgorod are also among the popular railway destinations.

Among the popular railway destinations for women, in addition to the two capitals, there are also Krasnodar, Rostov-on-Don, Sochi, Adler, Yekaterinburg and Simferopol. The share of female passengers to Moscow is 27.7%, to the Northern Capital – 12.9%, to Krasnodar – 4.1%, to Rostov-on-Don – 3.7%, to Sochi – 2.1%, to Adler and Yekaterinburg – 1.8% each, to Simferopol – 1.6%.

According to tutu analysts, the number of railway ticket buyers in the app increased by 32%, and the share of purchased train tickets increased by 27%. Travelers also began to look at train reviews and ratings more often before deciding to buy a ticket. The number of users who book a train ticket in advance and pay for it later has also increased.
