The State Duma has prepared another legislative initiative around tourism in the Year of the Family. The deputies proposed to make free flights for twins and triplets under the age of 2 years. Now passengers can issue the so-called infanta ticket without additional payments only for one child.
If there are several such passengers, then the next one will have to pay half the cost of the usual fare, as for children under 12 years old. Such standards are prescribed in the Federal Aviation Regulations. The State Duma believes that there are quite a large number of twins and triplets in the country who should have the right to fly for free.
Tourists are actively discussing this idea. “There aren’t many people flying with twins, much less with triplets. So a normal offer is good for them, and we have no problems,” subscribers of the telegram channel “Roof of the Tourist House” write. Some of them are still worried that the increased number of free-flying passengers will invariably affect the cost of tickets for others. However, these assumptions are groundless: infantes do not have a separate seat on board, which means that they do not occupy anyone’s place by default.
Deputies are also concerned that many carriers do not comply with the FAP requirement for a half-price ticket for children under 12 years old. After studying the offers on the market, the people’s deputies came to the conclusion that only Ural Airlines follows the prescribed rule. Discounts from other airlines for children’s tickets range from 15 to 25%. And Pobeda doesn’t have any at all.
