Three fairly strong earthquakes occurred last night in the Kemerovo region. This is reported by the Altai-Sayan branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
So, the first tremor of magnitude 4.6 was registered at 20:01 Moscow time on Thursday (00:01 local time on Friday), its epicenter was 49 km north of the city of Tashtagol.
At 23:45 on Thursday (02:45 local time on Friday), another 3.8 magnitude earthquake occurred 46 km northeast of Tashtagol.
The third tremor of magnitude 2.5 with an epicenter 19 km north of Tashtagol was noted at 01:10 Moscow time on Friday.
According to seismologists, earthquakes in Kuzbass are associated with intensive mining operations. As a rule, the foci of such earthquakes are located at a shallow depth.
