The Russian Embassy in Korea is trying to help Russian tourists trapped on a ship in the port

Посольство РФ в Корее пытается помочь российским туристам, запертым на судне в порту

The Russian Embassy in Seoul is investigating the reason for the detention of Russian tourists in South Korea. As the publication “Baikal24” told today, a large number of passengers of the Duwon ferry company were refused by the immigration authorities to visit the country.

All of them had an electronic K-ETA entry permit and arrived from Vladivostok at the South Korean port of Tonghae. It is known from the reports of tourists that several dozen people did not miss, although there were also return tickets. They were not explained the reason for the cancellation of the permit, only notified of the right to appeal such a decision.

Then they were all placed in cabins on some ship, provided with food and water, but kept under lock and key. The unwitting captives will wait to return home until September 23, the date on which the ferry’s return flight is scheduled. In the meantime, they were promised short walks.

Among the assumptions of such treatment of guests of the country is the suspicion that tourists will not want to return and will join the army of illegal immigrants in South Korea. The publication notes that the majority of refuseniks are Russian citizens with roots in Central Asian countries.

Earlier, TurDom wrote that a tourist from Thailand was not allowed to visit South Korea. After an unsuccessful interview at the border, she was sent home, considering her a potential non-return.
