The Ministry of Economic Development announced effective tourist SEZs

The Ministry of Economic Development announced the most effective tourist special economic zones of Russia by the end of 2023.

“The dynamics of the SEZ is steadily positive, over the years the tool is only gaining momentum and becoming more attractive to business, and therefore more effective for the state, which has been in the black for the second year due to accumulated tax returns,” Interfax quotes Deputy Minister of Economic Development Dmitry Vakhrukov.

The following sites are recognized as leaders among the tourist and recreational SEZs:

• Altai Territory (“Turquoise Katun” – 93%);
• Chechen Republic (“Veduchi” – 93%);
• Karachay-Cherkess Republic (Arkhyz – 90%);
• Irkutsk region (“Gates of Baikal” – 83%);
• Tver region (Zavidovo – 80%);
• Ulyanovsk region (Ulyanovsk – 85%);
• Astrakhan region (“Olya” – 46%).

It is clarified that by the end of 2023, the number of trips to tourist SEZs has doubled and amounted to more than 70 thousand.
