The 16th Republic of the USSR: what socialist Bulgaria looked like

In the USSR of the Brezhnev period, there was a rumor that Bulgaria was asking for The Union is the 16th republic, but it they refused — they say there is no common border and all that. There was also a saying: “A chicken is not a bird, Bulgaria is not abroad.” Anyway, for most Soviet people Bulgaria was almost the only foreign seaside resort where it was possible to get at least theoretically. And, I must say, many have already been there. Therefore, Zhivkov Bulgaria has rightfully become part of the common historical memory of the Soviet past. Let’s see how the “brothers” lived under their socialism.
