Thailand is taking the initiative to create an analogue of the Schengen area, which will include the countries of Southeast Asia.
According to the Telegram channel @ranarod, citing foreign media, Thai Prime Minister Sretta Thawisin has in recent months discussed the idea of launching an analogue of the Schengen area with representatives in Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar and Vietnam.
These six countries accounted for 70 million foreign tourists in 2023, more than 50% of whom went to Thailand and Malaysia. The introduction of a single visa between potential participating countries will increase the average profit per tourist.
