As it became known to the portal TourDom.ru From its own source, S7 Airlines intends to return business class seats to its A320ceo airliners. The press service of the carrier confirmed this information to us, but without details: “There are plans for a redesign. This issue is being worked out. We will inform you about the details later.”
The airline removed business class seats from the A320 cabins in 2019. This made it possible to increase the number of economy seats from 150 to 174. Planes were put on routes instead of the A319 that were scheduled to leave the fleet. At that time, there was a peak in mass tourism. Air tickets were relatively inexpensive, the main bet was on economical passengers.
Now the market situation has changed dramatically: fares have increased significantly, and the share of the well-off traveling public who can afford more expensive tickets is increasing on flights. But those who are willing to pay more are counting on the appropriate service on board. Airlines take this trend into account, and the return of the S7 to a two-class layout is quite consistent with it. In addition, the carrier introduces an additional service for business passengers: now they have access to automatic free online check-in not only on domestic, but also on international routes (there is an exception – the service is not provided for departures from Shanghai, Beijing, Dubai and Yerevan airports. – Ed.).
According to the data airfleets.net There are currently 16 A320 airliners in the S7 fleet. Of these, 12 have been debermudized – transferred to the Russian registry, which allows them to fly abroad with minimal risk of arrest at foreign airports – this happened to our aircraft after the introduction of Western sanctions. It can be assumed that the liners equipped with business class seats will be used primarily on the most profitable international lines for carriers.
Recall that the tourist market is now in demand for airplanes, all seats in which are business class. For example, the tour operator LOTi uses the BlackJet available in the AZUR air fleet for premium charters. And in the interests of Fun & Sun, a Red Wings business jet, an SSJ-100 airliner equipped only with business seats, flies from Moscow Vnukovo Airport to Turkey, there are 52 of them in the cabin.
