Travel planning service OneTwoTrip analyzed hotel bookings in high season and told in which Russian and foreign cities its customers most often choose five-star hotels.
In Russia
Russians most often book five-star hotels in Moscow: the capital accounts for 41.1% of all domestic bookings, and the average cost of a night in such a hotel is 8,000 rubles. St. Petersburg came in second place with a share of 14.3%. You can spend the night in a five-star hotel in the Northern capital for 9,500 rubles. Esto-Sadok took the third place (5.0%); there, accommodation in a five-star hotel will cost about 14,000 rubles.
Krasnodar (share — 3.8%; cost of a night 9,500 rubles), Sochi (3.7%; 19,000 rubles), Rostov-on-Don (2.5%; 10,000 rubles), Yekaterinburg (2.4%; 14,500 rubles), Kazan (2.2%; 20,000 rubles), Nizhny Novgorod (2.2%; 16,000 rubles) and Samara (1.2%; 12,000 rubles).
Abroad
Among foreign destinations, Dubai has become the most popular city for travelers who prefer to stay in five-star hotels in high season: 11.5% of orders are in this emirate, and a day’s stay there costs an average of 10,000 rubles. Istanbul took the second place with a share of 8.7%; in the Turkish city, beloved by Russians, you can stay for 6,600 rubles a day. Minsk closes the top three with a 6.5% share; a night in a five-star hotel in the capital of Belarus will cost about 13,000 rubles.
In addition, the top 10 included Shanghai (3.6% share; a night costs 5,500 rubles), Baku (3.5%; 5,000 rubles), Beijing (2.1%; 9,500 rubles), Bishkek (1.9%; 10,000 rubles), Astana (1.7%; 11,500 rubles), Tbilisi (1.6%; 9,200 rubles) and Batumi (1.5%; 5,300 rubles).
