Direct flights from Russia to Bali may appear in 2024, Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno said at a briefing broadcast on the department’s YouTube channel. The official noted that almost 90% of travelers from the Russian Federation know about the resort and would like to relax here.
Work on the restoration of direct flights between Russia and Bali has been going on for 2 years. In particular, Aeroflot and Rossiya announced the start of ticket sales back in 2023, but there were no non-stop flights.
The main obstacle to the opening of flights is the sanctions imposed on Russian airlines. Carriers have no guarantees of inviolability and safety for their aircraft. The second problem is refueling airliners in Indonesia. Some airports refuse to provide fuel because they are afraid of being sanctioned for helping an organization from the Russian Federation.
It seems that now direct flights will be launched after all. An informed source confirmed TourDom.ru that the negotiations have reached the finish line and this time the tickets should be on sale.
So far, you can only get to Bali with transfers. The most convenient options are offered by Emirates and Qatar Airways, they have flights with connections in Dubai or Doha (Qatar). Tickets cost 85-93 thousand rubles. Such a flight cannot be called convenient, because tourists spend 17-18 hours in the air, and it takes 2.5–3.5 hours to change planes.
Russian tourists are waiting for the launch of direct flights. In early May, we conducted a survey on the telegram channel “Roof of the Tourist House” whether its readers plan to go to Bali. 34% of the respondents are ready to go there if there are “direct” tickets.
