In February, according to the Russian statistical agency, organized tourist trips to Egypt rose the most – by 14%. Tours to Turkey are in second place – by almost 11% and trips with a tour operator to the UAE are in third place – by 6%.
Holidays in Abkhazia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia rose in price by 5%, in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan – by 4.5%. In Russia, there is an increase in prices for the cost of hotel rooms – by 4%. In transport, economy class flights showed a significant increase – they rose in price by almost 13%.
The year of the family
The first targeted offers from carriers have appeared, aimed at embodying the Year of the Family announced in 2024. Russian Railways offers a 15% discount for passengers with children. However, it turned out that it will be valid all year round only for large families, for other passengers with children the discount will not be available in the summer months. In addition, according to the conditions of the carrier, a discount can only be obtained for travel in a compartment.
Azimut Airlines also announced a 15% discount, but only for large families. Aeroflot said that at the birth or adoption of a child under the age of one year, one of the parents will extend the current, but not confirmed, loyalty program for the next year.
Who needs money like that
The Federal Antimonopoly Service has filed a case against S7 Airlines due to dynamic pricing. Earlier, the agency demanded that S7 provide a clear and reasoned pricing procedure, but the airline decided to challenge this requirement in court and appealed against the decision of the Moscow Arbitration Court on the FAS warning. According to S7 Airlines, the decision of the court of first instance has not yet entered into force and the FAS is running ahead of the locomotive.
Without going into the details of the dispute (AN-Tourism also does not like dynamic pricing, since for some reason it only works upwards) – here we can only observe and evaluate the arguments of the parties, but I wonder why S7 Airlines? After all, absolutely all airlines in the country apply dynamic pricing.
Pobeda Airlines continues to develop additional paid services. Last summer, the company launched the Food at the Gate service, through which it was possible to get lunch in Vnukovo and Sheremetyevo before boarding. Now the company is taking the next step and is preparing to introduce paid meals. The menu at the first stage will include sandwiches with chicken, ham and cheese, coffee, tea, juices and soda.
Airport News
Pulkovo Airport (St. Petersburg) will purchase 20 ramps at the request of the transport prosecutor’s office. The supervisory authority found that due to the lack of the required number of ladders, passengers arriving at the airport have to wait a long time to disembark from the plane.
Pobedilovo Airport in Kirov was opened on March 14 after major repairs. It is claimed that it has not been repaired since its opening in 1969. After the overhaul, the airport’s capacity should double.
Local authorities promise that new terminals at Tomsk and Cheboksary airports will be operational in the summer season. The new terminal at Tomsk Bogashevo Airport is planned to be put into operation in May, and a new airport terminal in Cheboksary will be opened in June.
But the regional authorities of Yaroslavl have figured out what prevents them from launching international flights from Tunoshna airport. It turned out that the problem was the low throughput at the border control, where only two posts were equipped. To start normal operation, it is necessary to expand three to four times at least. The head of the region promised to address this issue. “We will try to do everything as quickly as possible, but the estimates are different, it may take six months or a year, maybe two. After that, we will be able to go on international flights,” promised Mikhail Evraev, Governor of the Yaroslavl Region.
Where do skis go?
Specialists of one of the domestic travel planning services analyzed customer search queries for hotel accommodation and identified the 20 most popular countries for summer holidays.
There were no surprises with the first place – Turkey leads the summer top service: 22% of travelers want to go there from June to August. But the second place, or rather, even the share of requests – 18% to Georgia – is unexpected and surprising. Moreover, the remaining 18 countries showed results at the level of statistical error compared to the leaders – from 4.6% (third place, Armenia) to 1.1% (20th place, Maldives).
You can also go to Schengen with a five-year-old
From the news about the introduction of a new passport control system (Entry/Exit System – EES) in the EU, it turned out that entry into Schengen would be possible only with a biometric (ten-year-old) passport. The European Commission clarified that this was not the case: “The refusal of entry is not based solely on the fact that the traveler does not have a biometric passport. In cases where he has a valid travel document giving him the right to cross the border, a valid Schengen visa and meets all other conditions set out in the Schengen Border Code, a biometric passport is not required.”
Bulgaria, which has joined the Schengen Agreement, promises to start issuing Schengen visas on April 1. However, so far only in Moscow. The remaining 25 branches have not been accepting documents for more than six months.
Probably, Finland is still worried about the tightly closed border with the Russian Federation. I would not have worried – the Interior Ministry would not have come up with new bills that would help open the border with Russia, while limiting the acceptance of asylum applications. It is assumed that the law will prohibit the acceptance of applications for international protection for refugees arriving from the Russian border. Applications will not be suspended in other parts of the Finnish border. So far, the bill is undergoing public discussions, and the border with the Russian Federation is closed until April 14.
Experts from Remitely, a well-known provider of digital financial services, analyzed Internet search queries for keywords such as “visa” and “how to apply for a visa.” France is in the first place. The number of requests for a visa on the Internet to this country is almost 2.5 million annually. Canada ranks second in the list – on average, the country accounts for more than 2 million visa search queries per year. And Japan is in third place, with about 1 million requests.
The best beaches in the world
The popular travel website TripAdvisor has named the top 10 best beaches in the world for relaxation. Traditionally, we will pay attention to those resorts that Russians can reach on direct flights. There are only two of them in this top.
The Varadero Beach in Cuba, known to Russians, closes the top ten. The beach is located 140 km east of Havana and stretches for 20 km along the peninsula of the same name. Tourists in the reviews most often noted the soft white sand and the comfortable temperature of the sea water. And in sixth place is Anse Lazio beach, Praslin, Seychelles. Tourists appreciated not only the wide coastline and blue waters, but also the landscape around: the beach is surrounded by lush greenery and rock formations.
Let’s not be upset that the choice of places in the world top for Russians is not very encouraging, and let’s pay attention to the TripAdvisor rating of the best beaches in Asia in 2024. In the Asian top 10, more than half of the beaches in the countries accessible to Russians by direct flight.
Banana Beach is in second place in this ranking. Phuket, Thailand. Users of the tourist platform called it the epitome of paradise with soft golden sand and sparkling turquoise waters. On the fourth – Phuket again, Nai Harn Beach, Thailand. Soft sand, warm water, trees swaying slightly in the wind – all this is on Nai Harn beach. An Bang Beach is in fifth place. Hoi An, Vietnam. Snow–white sand, blue sky, stunning views – An Bang Beach has everything. The beach is surrounded by lush greenery and boasts a coral reef, making it an ideal place for swimming and snorkeling. My Khe Beach is in sixth place. Da Nang, Vietnam. There is everything for a classic beach relaxation: soft sand, lulling surf, coconut palms.
There is no direct flight to Indian beaches (there are two in the rating), so we will skip them. And Mirissa Beach is in 9th place. Mirissa, Sri Lanka. The lively beach is known for its beautiful sandy shores and crystal clear waters.
