Restrictions for tour groups have come into force in Venice (Italy) from today, August 1. According to the city municipality, such measures have been taken to limit the impact of excessive tourism.
So, now the use of loudspeakers during tourist excursions is prohibited in Venice. The authorities also limited the number of tourist groups visiting the city to 25 people.
Violators face fines of 25 — 500 euros.
The restrictions apply to the city center, as well as to the islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello.
Venice, with a population of about 250,000, was visited by 20 million people in 2023.
