The platform Bronevik.com MTS Travel, which is part of MTS Travel, studied hotel reservations and other accommodation facilities in Moscow and the Moscow Region for the first four months of 2024. According to the study, 40% of orders are made by business tourists.
Compared to the same period in 2023, the number of bookings of tourist accommodation for business trips in Moscow increased by 62%, and in the Moscow region – by 28%. Thus, the dynamics in the metropolitan region turned out to be higher than in Russia as a whole (+23%).
The number of orders by ordinary travelers also grew faster in Moscow and the region than in the country. So, in the capital from January to April 2024, tourists made 35% more bookings than a year earlier, in the Moscow region – by 26%. In Russia as a whole, this figure increased by 19%.
The average check in Moscow accommodation facilities booked for business trips increased by 19% to 6,600 rubles per night. The average length of stay was 2.5 nights, and the booking depth increased by 23% – bookings were made on average 11 days before arrival. In the Moscow region, the price tag is lower and did not grow as intensively – 4,500 rubles per night (+10%). The average booking depth here increased by only 7%, to 7.5 days.
The majority of business tourists (72%) still choose hotels for business trips, 10% prefer mini-hotels, 8% – apartments. At the same time, the dynamics of the increase in bookings in the latter segment attracts attention. So, in Moscow, the number of orders for business trips apartments increased by 230% at once, and in the region – by 200%.
“Apartments are gaining more and more trust from business travelers because their quality and convenience are changing. This is no longer a “grandmother’s apartment”, the daily rental market offers more and more comfortable modern rooms with additional service and official document management, which is so important for business travelers. At the same time, the cost of renting apartments is on average 40% lower than accommodation in 3-4 star hotels, the most popular for business trips. It is also important to have a wide coverage of daily facilities – it is much easier to find an apartment directly next to the office or event venue,” explains the executive director Bronevik.com Marina Goncharenko.
