“In summer, Russians make about 5.6 million trips abroad for the purpose of tourism and recreation. This is 16.5% more than in the same period a year earlier, when the tourist flow amounted to 4.8 million. The structure of trips is dominated by beach holidays, which account for 97% of the flow,” Interfax quotes Artur Muradyan, Vice President of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR).
The top five leading countries, where Russians will mainly go in the summer, include Turkey (3.1 million tourists from Russia), Abkhazia (1.1 million), the United Arab Emirates (300 thousand, excluding transit passengers), Egypt (260 thousand) and Thailand (220 thousand) It is specified that more than 50% of outbound trips will be organized through tour operators.
According to Artur Muradyan, the strengthening of the ruble has a positive effect on sales of foreign tours.
