All evening flights were canceled at two airports in Shanghai – Pudong and Hongqiao – on Sunday due to typhoon Bebinka approaching the metropolis. Flights to Shanghai and from Moscow are delayed. So, China Eastern Airlines flight MU 248 was postponed from 16:20 to 00:20 on September 16, MU 592 will depart at 00:25 instead of 19:05, and MU 6020 will depart at 00:10, although it was supposed to at 20:25. Aeroflot flight SU 208 will have to be delayed even more. He should have left at 20:00, and will fly only on Monday at 6 a.m. Interestingly, the only flight to Shanghai from St. Petersburg – MU 260 – so far, according to the Pulkovo online scoreboard, should leave according to the schedule – at 23:15. However, the situation may change.
The typhoon is expected to hit the coastal areas of Shanghai and the neighboring eastern province of Zhejiang on Monday morning, TASS notes. Currently, the Bebinka is located about 350 km from the city in the East China Sea. The authorities warned the population that they should not leave their homes during the passage of the typhoon, and meteorologists declared the highest red danger level due to bad weather.
