The operator conducted an assessment of tourist flows, which will allow to form a portrait of a guest of the Primorsky Territory, test hypotheses about the places of attraction of travelers and launch new tourist routes. The analytical information collected by the Digital Tourism platform was transferred to the Primorye Tourist Information Center and the Primorsky Territory Tourism Agency for further use in projects.
According to reports compiled on the basis of aggregated data, over the past three years, the tourist flow to the region has increased by 68%, while visitors showed the most active dynamics in 2023. The main demand occurred in July and September. Vladivostok remains the main interest of travelers — the city has the opportunity to relax on the rocky and sandy beaches of the Sea of Japan, taste Far Eastern cuisine, and get acquainted with the history of the region.
Last year, residents of more than 100 foreign countries and almost all (82) regions of the country visited the region. The most frequent guests of Primorye came from the Khabarovsk Territory, Amur and Sakhalin regions, and Chinese citizens were the most active among foreigners in the Far East.
“Thanks to MegaFon’s analytics, we can predict tourism trends and adapt to the changing needs of travelers, as well as develop new tourism destinations in the region. This is important for the formation of a competitive market and attracting more tourists. After all, Primorye is not only a beach or gastronomic holiday, but also an eventful, ecological and rural one. In general, the analytics of Digital Tourism helps to make investments in development accurate and get the maximum return,” commented Arseniy Krepsky, head of the Primorsky Territory Tourism Agency.
“Domestic tourism is experiencing a full-scale boom and our service, based on big data analytics, is becoming a real assistant for the regions. The data that we broadcast is valuable information about the attendance of various places, the preferences of tourists and their behavior, used by businesses and government agencies to make strategic decisions. For example, Digital Tourism is already actively helping to develop destinations in the Republic of North Ossetia – Alania, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Stavropol Territory, Krasnodar Territory, Kaluga and Murmansk regions. In the latter region, thanks to the data obtained during the analysis, the decision was confirmed to develop a new tourist cluster on the coast of the Barents Sea near the Malaya Volokovaya Bay and Cape Lisy — “Walla Tunturi”. And in Yakutia, the data of the digital platform is used to develop hunting tourism in the northern territories,” says Roman Matvienko, director of MegaFon in Primorsky Krai.
