Кенозерье включили в список Всемирного культурного наследия ЮНЕСКО

The cultural landscape “Reserved Kenozerye” in the Arkhangelsk region, located on the territory of the Kenozersky National Park, is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The decision was made in Delhi at the 46th session of the World Heritage Committee.

UNESCO recognized the exclusivity of the collection of historical wooden buildings of Kenozerye, “the rich diversity of which is an important reflection of the cultural heritage and traditions of this region.”

“This protected area preserves not only architectural masterpieces of Russian architects, but also living spiritual and cultural traditions,” said Rinat Alyautdinov, head of the Russian delegation at the session, Permanent Representative of Russia to UNESCO.

According to him, “the inclusion of Kenozerye in The World Heritage List is a tribute to our ancestors, who, with an amazing sense of proportion and beauty, created villages, churches, chapels with beautiful ceiling paintings of heaven in the harsh northern regions. This is a tribute to the researchers, scientists, restorers who have studied and carefully preserved the cultural heritage of Kenozerye for centuries. Finally, this is a great and long—awaited joy for local residents – heirs and continuers of the cultural traditions of Kenozerye.”
