Iranian tourists have become leaders in spending in Russia

By the end of 2024, tourists from Iran spent the most money on purchases in Russia.

“Iranian tourists spend an average of 240.9 thousand rubles per trip on purchases. In second place are travelers from Georgia (214.9 thousand rubles), in third – Nigeria (196.8 thousand rubles). The average check of a tourist from Vietnam amounted to 195.2 thousand rubles, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan – 187.6 and 177.1 thousand rubles, respectively,” Interfax quotes a message from DigiTaxFree, one of the operators of the tax free system in Russia.

It is specified that US citizens increased their spending from 116.1 thousand rubles in 2023 to 182.7 thousand in 2024. For tourists from North Korea, the average check per person was 156 thousand rubles. The average checks for citizens of Italy, Serbia and Estonia amounted to 132.4 thousand 111.8 thousand and 108.8 thousand rubles, respectively.

DigiTaxFree experts added that tourists from Iran and Vietnam prefer to buy branded clothes and shoes, cosmetics and perfumes in Russia, while Nigerians opted mainly for expensive accessories (leather belts, branded bags and backpacks). The guests from the DPRK chose only jewelry and gold in Russian stores.
