Kazan Airport is negotiating with Qatar Airways to launch flights to Qatar.
According to RBC with reference to the General director of Kazan Airport named after G. Tukai Sergey Romantsov, the negotiation process with Qatar Airways is underway in the Middle East.
The issue of organizing direct flights was raised within the framework of the XV International Economic Forum “Russia – the Islamic World: KazanForum”.
“They also expressed interest in opening direct flights with Qatar and India, which will not only contribute to an increase in tourist traffic, but also to the development of trade and economic relations. We have taken these issues into consideration,” RBC quotes the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan, German Lerner.
In the first half of 2024, Kazan airport served about 2.5 million passengers, which is 5.8% more than in the same period last year. In total, Kazan Airport handles 78 destinations, 29 of which are international.
