The mausoleum can be accessed through the Eastern, Southern and Western Gates. At the entrance, you will have to undergo strict control, which consists in the fact that you are allowed to take only water and a camera with you. Inside the building there are the tombs of the Shah and his wife Mumtaz Mahal, decorated with precious stones.

It is best to visit the mausoleum early in the morning. The only day of the week when the Taj Mahal is closed to visitors is Friday. This day is dedicated to prayers.
