The popularity of apart-hotels and holiday apartments in early summer is growing noticeably. So, in June 2024, apartments and apart-hotels account for every third reservation in the country (32%). This trend is noted by specialists of the online booking service for hotels and apartments Ostrovok, who analyzed the bookings of Russian tourists for June and found out how their preferences have changed when planning trips.
Experts note that the share of apartments in the booking structure is growing from year to year: in 2023 it amounted to 27%, and in 2022 – 22%.
It is noteworthy that in some regions, such accommodation facilities account for almost half of all bookings – these are mainly destinations for sightseeing holidays. In the Kaliningrad region, apartments and apart-hotels account for 64% of all bookings, in the Novosibirsk region – 46%, in Tatarstan – 47%, in St. Petersburg – 43%.

In the Krasnodar Territory, Stavropol Territory, Kaliningrad Region and Dagestan, the demand for apartments and apartment hotels increased by a third.
Anita Gusich, head of the press service of the online hotel and apartment booking service Ostrovok, commented: “Apartments and apart-hotels have enough advantages that attract tourists, especially in the summer season. Firstly, due to the presence of a kitchen in such facilities, travelers can significantly reduce the cost of meals in cafes and restaurants, which is especially important on long trips. Secondly, the area of apartments is often larger than in hotels, and may include several rooms – this is convenient for tourists with children and vacationers with a large company. Thirdly, the price factor also plays an important role: apartments are among the most budget accommodation formats on vacation.”
The average cost of a booked night in Russian apart-hotels of various stars for June is 5,800 rubles – 18% higher than last year (4,900 rubles), in apartments – 5,000 rubles (+11%, 4,500 rubles).
