At the moment, it is known that the deceased Russian is named Ilya Orlov, he was 27 years old. He arrived in Thailand via a tour operator on April 24 with his three children. Their fate and whereabouts are currently unknown.
The body of a man was found near Karon Beach in a roadside ditch. There were deep marks of cuts on his hands, as well as bruises received from blows with a hard blunt object. The local police suggest that the tourist was tortured before his death. Note that among Ilya Orlov’s belongings, a document of a “Russian woman” was also found, perhaps this is his girlfriend. Her fate is still unknown.
Thai law enforcement agencies have launched an investigation into the death of a Russian citizen. A search is underway for possible suspects, and witnesses are being interviewed. According to the preliminary version of the police, the tourist could have a conflict with a local gang of criminals, which led to the tragedy.
