In the Leningrad region, an increase in prices for country holidays was noted

В Ленобласти отмечено повышение цен на загородный отдых

According to Rosstat, 3 million people visited the Leningrad Region in 5 months of 2024, of which the number of people accommodated in suburban bases and hotels amounted to 0.6 million. These figures are comparable to the same period in 2023, but by the end of 2024, experts predict an excess of the cumulative figure of the previous year.

By the end of July 2024, 400 complexes were presented on the market of suburban accommodation facilities in St. Petersburg and the region. The leaders in terms of supply are traditionally the Priozersky and Vyborgsky districts of the Leningrad Region and the Kurortny district of St. Petersburg, accounting for 59% of the total number of placements.

At the moment, about half of the objects on the market of suburban recreational complexes in the Leningrad region are multi-format complexes, combining accommodation in hotel rooms, individual cottages and glamping. Classic hotel holidays are offered by 26% of the facilities, while 15% of the complexes are exclusively cottage accommodation. The share of glamping is 10% of the total offer.

In the 1st half of 2024, the market of suburban recreational complexes was replenished with at least 3 new facilities (208 places) offering accommodation in cottages and hotel rooms. It is worth noting that a new four-star complex “MARJA Villas&Spa” has entered the market, consisting of 43 cottages and a hotel with 10 rooms is planned.

Due to the increase in the tourist flow and the limited number of accommodation facilities in July 2024, there is an increase in prices for country holidays compared to the summer season last year. For example, this year the minimum rate for accommodation in 3-star country hotels has become 11% more expensive than in 2023. In hotels of the 4-5 star category, the dynamics is similar – an increase in the average by 8-10%.

The prices for accommodation are directly related to the availability of attractions in the areas and conditions for various types of recreation. At the same time, according to Svetlana Moskovchenko, deputy director of the St. Petersburg Real Estate Consulting Center, suburban recreational complexes with a unique concept can become independent points of attraction for tourists even in remote areas.

“The Leningrad region has a huge potential for the development of suburban tourism. Despite the current price increase, the demand for country holidays will remain consistently high, stimulating the emergence of new facilities and improving the quality of existing ones.  It is predicted that more glamping, eco-hotels, recreation centers with non-standard accommodation formats will appear to satisfy the needs of a wide variety of tourists. The variability of leisure activities will continue to be one of the main advantages for suburban recreational complexes in the Leningrad region. Instead of a simple overnight stay, suburban recreation centers will offer more entertainment and activities – from horseback riding and cycling to cooking and yoga workshops,” the expert believes.
