Most Russians have equipped their apartments with resource metering devices that require periodic verification. Many companies persistently offer relevant services, and it is often difficult to make the right choice. How not to make a mistake and invite a really reliable company to check the counters, he explained aif.ru housing law expert Viktor Fedoruk.
“Only those companies that have the appropriate licenses can verify metering devices,” says the expert. “As a rule, management companies of apartment buildings know which structures are reliable and proven, which can carry out not only meter verification, but also, if necessary, its replacement. At the same time, management companies cannot force you to contact them, but they can recommend you to do so and provide all the necessary contacts.”
At the same time, owners of apartment buildings are often offered their meter verification services by third-party companies, many Russians have encountered annoying phone calls or appropriate advertising in their mailboxes.
“It’s not illegal,” Fedoruk pointed out. “But in this case, residents may face poor—quality work, or the imposition of additional services, for example, to replace a metering device, which in fact can still serve for more than one year.”
Therefore, if the time for checking the meter has come, then you should not guess.
“It makes sense to call the management company or go there,” the expert advises, “and ask for the phones of trusted companies that will provide the service on time and without additional expenses.”
