Instead of focusing on the quality of the universities themselves, as the Times Higher Education and QS do, this ranking is aimed at those who are looking for a “unique life experience.” From vibrant cultural events to advanced educational infrastructure, these cities are the epitome of an ideal student lifestyle.”

When compiling the rating, The Campus Advisor used student reviews, giving grades in the following categories:

Each city was rated on a five-point scale in each category, and the average value was used to determine a place in the top 50.

Melbourne, Australia, retained the title of the best city in the world for students in 2023, receiving 4.68 points out of five. The city received the highest rating in the category of “Amenities”. The reviewers noted the best bars, the best nightclubs, outstanding art, food and wine, the best shopping, as well as a variety of opportunities for sports and recreation. “There is always something to do on any day of the week!” one of the reviewers noted.

Berlin rose to second place in the ranking with a score of 4.63 points, moving from sixth in 2022.
