The Tunisian authorities have decided to introduce a tax for organized tourists. From November 1, 2024, guests of the country will need to pay from 1 to 3.5 euros per day, depending on the category of the hotel, the Interfax news agency reports.
This fee will have to be paid by all travelers over the age of 12 who come on “package” tours. According to the Tunisian Tourism Office, the tax will help the state compensate for the share of consumption or use of subsidized products and services by guests. In 2-star hotels, 1.18 euros will be charged per person per day, in 3–star hotels – 2.36 euros, and 4 or 5-star hotels – 3.54 euros. You will need to pay for the first 10 days of your stay. Recall that from “independent” tourists who come to Tunisia without the help of travel agencies, the duty began to be collected from January 1, 2024.
At the same time, according to representatives of the Russian travel industry, quoted by Interfax, recently the demand for holidays in Tunisia among our vacationers has decreased. The reason for this, first of all, is the unstable direct communication between states.
