The government increased the limits on IT mortgages after they were exhausted

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced an increase in the limits on IT mortgages at a government meeting. This is reported in the telegram channel of the Russian government.

As Mishustin recalled, the program of preferential loans for employees of the IT industry was launched on the initiative of the head of state as one of the measures to support the IT sector. “During all her time, banks received over 275 thousand applications and issued loans worth 700 billion rubles,” he said. “Demand remains for such a mortgage, and with this in mind, the government will increase budget allocations for IT mortgages by 23 billion rubles, which will allow at least 2.5 thousand more employees working in this sector and their families to solve the housing issue.”

According to government forecasts, over the entire duration of the program, more than 77.5 thousand Russians will be able to use it and will be able to buy a house or apartment at a favorable rate.

What is an IT mortgage?

The program of preferential housing purchase loans for IT specialists was launched in May 2022. Since August 2024, its terms have been changed. Now the program does not apply to Moscow and St. Petersburg, the interest rate has been increased to 6%, and the maximum loan amount has been made equal for all regions of the program – 9 million rubles.

In April 2024, the limit on IT mortgages was increased by 200 billion rubles to 700 billion rubles. In July, it was exhausted, and banks suspended issuing IT mortgages. The new tranche will allow the resumption of such loans.
