The Czech authorities have banned Russians from entering the country without a biometric passport since July 3. This is reported by the Seznam Zpravy portal with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the state.

It is clarified that it is forbidden to stay in the republic with ordinary old-style passports. The Foreign Ministry added that they are easier to fake.

“Security is a priority for our government. We will not wait for another diversion. Anyone who wants to stay in our country must show that they deserve to be trusted. And in the case of Russians, a passport with non—biometric data will no longer be enough for this,” the department concluded.

Earlier, the Czech government extended the ban on issuing visas and residence permits to citizens of Russia and Belarus. This decision was valid until March 31, 2024. Now, at the suggestion of the country’s Foreign Ministry, the government’s decision does not specify the duration of these measures.
