On Sunday, May 26, the famous actress and model at the age of 58, who is also the mother of the bride, celebrated 23 years of happy marriage with her husband, Chris Henchy. She shared her memories with fans by posting photos from the couple’s wedding, which took place in 2001.

In one of the pictures, the newlyweds are standing on the balcony, clinging to each other, and in another Chris Henchy gives a bouquet to his wife. One of the photos shows Shields kneeling in a church in a wedding dress and receiving a gentle kiss from a dog, while Chris looks at them with a smile.

In addition, Shields posted some more recent photos of her and Chris on vacation in Europe in front of the beautiful sea. She also attached her signature to the anniversary post: “Today marks the 23rd anniversary of my marriage to the love of my life. I’m still happy to be with you, Henchy!”

Several of their famous friends left their wishes in the comments, including Debi Mazar, who wrote: “I love you both! All the best to you!”

Shields and Henchy first met in 1999 and got engaged in 2000 in Mexico. In fact, they have two wedding anniversaries, since they got married twice. The first time was in April 2001 at a small ceremony on Catalina Island in California, and a few weeks later they repeated their vows at a larger wedding in Palm Springs, California.

Earlier this month, Shields revealed how she and Chris are keeping their marriage healthy and happy. She stressed the importance of open communication and trying to adapt to each other’s changes. She also noted that at their age they are trying to get to know each other anew, as they look at life and grow up together. She also talked about her personal development and the need to express her feelings to her husband, instead of assuming that he could read her mind. She admitted that as she gets older, some things that used to look cute no longer evoke such positive emotions, and this needs to be discussed in order to find new ways of interacting.

Shields and Henchy will soon open a new chapter in their lives, as their daughter Greer goes to college this fall. Shields admitted that the prospect of their house no longer being full of children’s laughter and routine baffles her and causes mixed emotions. She said it would be a new era for them, and she wasn’t ready for such a change yet.
