Russians have lost interest in holidays in Turkey

Turkey has always been one of the most popular destinations for Russian tourists. However, the situation has changed this year.

Problems with payment for services caused by Western sanctions and high cost have become the main reasons for Turkey’s declining attractiveness to Russians. As a result, hotel occupancy is at a low level.

Recall that many Russians face problems when trying to book hotels or pay for excursions in Turkey. This creates an additional barrier for travelers and reduces their desire to choose Turkey as a vacation destination, RIA Novosti writes.

The high cost of tours to Turkey has also become an important factor deterring Russian tourists. The average cost of a tour to a simple four—star hotel is 135-160 thousand rubles for 10 nights, and a tour to a five-star hotel is at least 315-350 thousand rubles for two.

One of the reasons for the high prices for tours to Turkey is the ruble exchange rate. A weak ruble makes foreign travel more expensive for Russians.

As previously reported by the Free Press, according to Sergey Romashkin, ATOR Vice President for Domestic tourism, the average cost of a summer tour in Sochi reaches 105 thousand rubles, while Anapa may be even more expensive — around 109 thousand.
