The Czech authorities have decided to stop recognizing old-style Russian foreign passports, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports, citing the country’s Foreign Ministry. Documents valid for 5 years, in which there is no information carrier with biometric data, are considered invalid in this state. According to Czech legislators, old-style passports do not have the necessary degrees of protection, they are easier to forge. Therefore, all citizens of our country who find themselves in the Czech Republic with such certificates will be automatically classified as illegal immigrants. Earlier, Denmark made a similar decision. Other EU countries are likely to follow suit soon.
Recall that since the autumn of 2022, the Czech Republic has banned Russian travelers from entering the country or transiting through it if they arrive from outside the Schengen area. However, tourists from our country can get to the Czech Republic by flying to another state of the Schengen Agreement, which does not have such restrictions.
