Russian Railways has launched a new online service for long-distance train passengers: The “waiting list” provides an opportunity to buy a ticket for an already “sold out” train if there are seats in it – this can happen, for example, if they decide to add a carriage to the train or someone returns the tickets, the official Telegram channel of the department reports.
Using the service is quite simple: if a passenger, after entering the trip data on the website, does not see tickets for the desired train, then he needs to click the “Request to the waiting list” button – it appears as soon as the seats in the compartment, reserved seats and seating cars run out. The system fills in the necessary information about the route, departure date and train number automatically, and the passenger chooses only the type of car, the number of seats and their characteristics: he can choose “any”, “lower”, “upper”, “non-side seat” and so on, and also enters personal data of passengers and his contact details data for notification of the appearance of tickets. If the travel documents appear, the passenger receives a payment link – he will have two hours to buy a ticket. If the tickets are not paid during this time, the reservation will be canceled and the system will offer these seats to the next passengers. A “waiting list request” can only be left for trains for which ticket sales are open.
