Newarab reported on non-trivial investments in tourism from the Russian side. According to him, Russian companies are starting to build hotels on the white sandy beaches of Syria. The country’s Minister of Tourism, Mohammed Rami Martini, said that two investment contracts are currently under implementation. So there are chances that new hotels on the Mediterranean will open for Russian tourists.
“One of the investments is the Olympic Tour company in Latakia province,” he said. Moreover, at the moment this project is more than half completed and the company is one of the “most important” investors in the Syrian tourism sector. Sinara Int named the second investor, which received a contract on favorable terms with the Latakia City Council under the auspices of the Syrian Ministry of Tourism. “We hope that work on this project will begin in the next few months,” Mr. Martini added.
Recall that back in 2019, Syria announced plans to attract Russian tourists. “White sandy beaches, mild climate and thousands of cultural and religious monuments with a thousand-year history should appeal to tourists from Russia. Syria is the most suitable destination for Russian tourists who want to visit a friendly country and among loving people. Syria is ready to accept Russian tourists instead of unfriendly countries,” Syrian Ambassador to Moscow Riyad Haddad said earlier in an interview with Izvestia.
And in 2022, the Russian company signed an investment deal worth 59.7 million dollars for the development of a new tourist facility on the coast of Syria — which included 48 chalets and a 350-room hotel, as well as offices, entertainment centers and a physiotherapy center.
