Anyone can come to Turkey by car, subject to the following five rules:
1. The 185-day rule.
In total, over the past year, you must have been outside Turkey for at least 185 days (i.e., you spent no more than 180 days in Turkey). For example, if you have been in Turkey for 200 days in the last year, then you cannot import a car, and if you have been in Turkey for 150 days, then you can import a car.
The duration of stay in Turkey and abroad is calculated one year (365 days) before the date of the planned arrival. All entries and exits to the territory of Turkey are taken into account in any way (by sea, by air, by land, by train, by plane, with or without a car). Continuous stay is not required.
This rule does not apply to pensioners, but the status will have to be documented.
2. Only one vehicle can be imported.
One owner — one car. The car must be registered in the country where you have citizenship.
3. The owner of the car can be a passenger, but the driver must have a power of attorney certified by a notary. Both the owner and the driver must comply with the 185-day rule.
4. The car can be imported for 730 days (2 years).
This rule applies to those who have a residence permit. After two years, you will have to leave Turkey and comply with the 185-day rule.
If you do not have a residence permit, then you can stay in Turkey by car for as long as the visa-free regime allows for citizens of your country.
Ukraine and Kazakhstan — 90 days, Russia — 60+30 days, Belarus — 30 days.
If the car is in Turkey for more than the prescribed period, then fines will apply. The month of delay is 1046 TL, 2 months — 2092 TL, 3 months — 3138 TL, then ¼ of the amount of customs duty on the vehicle.
5. You need to notify customs about your departure.
If the driver leaves Turkey and leaves the car, he must notify customs and indicate the date of departure and the parking place of the car. At the same time, no one has the right to use the car during your departure.
Before the trip, it is better to read the official information on the website again.
