There has been talk of new plans to build a $20 trillion transatlantic tunnel that could theoretically connect London and New York in just an hour using vacuum tube technology. But CNN urges to keep in mind that this is about 3,000 miles of digging, which, according to Newsweek estimates, could take most of a millennium if construction proceeded at the same pace as the construction of the European tunnel under the English Channel.

In line with plans that are already underway, Norway launched its Rogfast project last month, which promises to become the longest and deepest underwater road tunnel in the world. In Northern Europe, the world’s longest Femarnbelt road and rail tunnel connecting Denmark and Germany is scheduled to open in 2029.

Southern Europe will also not give up on one or two projects. Construction of a new bridge connecting Greece and Turkey may be about to begin, a Greek reporter said on Friday.

In the western part of Europe, in the UK, one of the most expensive railway projects in the world is under construction, known as HS2 (High-Speed-2), which currently costs $ 416 million per mile. However, many people think that this is pointless.

This happened a few years after the UK again announced plans to build one of the most ambitious bridges in the world, which would connect the UK and Ireland. The bridge was only supposed to go 12 miles, but the waters were deep enough to flood the Eiffel Tower. Then there was the problem of radioactive waste and unexploded ordnance. Unsurprisingly, the plans were cancelled.
