A group of bloggers and tour operators from the UAE, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia visited the Tver region for the first time. The study tour was supported by the Ministry of Tourism of the Tver Region, the Central Executive Committee and the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.
Yulia Maksutova, director of the Center for the Development of International Tourism of the Central Russian Republic: “You Russians are lucky: you don’t have to go anywhere – you have everything in the rest of the world in Russia,” bloggers told me, and this reflects the demand among intourists not only for such traditional Russian destinations as Moscow and St. Petersburg- St. Petersburg, but also other regions. This year, we have seen a multiple increase in the tourist flow from most Middle Eastern countries: from Saudi Arabia – 11 times more than in the first half of last year, from Bahrain – 10 times, from Oman – 6, and the UAE and Qatar – almost 3 times. Most recently, at the Eastern Economic Forum, the Center presented the first catalog of tourist routes for foreign tourists “Time To Travel”*, developed jointly with 11 Russian entities, and now, just two weeks later, we started the second stage of this initiative: we organized an advertising tour to the Tver region, which is one of the most active participants in the all-Russian a project for the development of inbound tourism. The tour participants had a unique opportunity to live on an island in the middle of the Volga, appreciate the picturesque landscapes, steam in a Russian bath, taste the national cuisine, ride a boat and quad bikes, feel the hospitality of the Tver region.” Natalia Lukyanova, Minister of Tourism of the Tver Region: “The Ministry of Tourism, together with the Center for the Development of International Tourism of the Central Asian Republic, has developed a special route for guests from Arab countries. Our region is interested in attracting this target audience, including in winter, when we can show our guests a real Russian fairy tale.” The result of the study tour was an agreement signed between the Russian-Arab tour operator Premium Galactica Travel and TourismInc. and the Tver event hotel Konakovo River Club.
